The outgoing Minister for Innovation and Growth, Daniel Lorer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bulgarian government and the leader in cloud computing, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The document will boost cooperation in the field of innovation and economic development through online training of new generations, promotion of cloud-based economic activities and government support for digital transformation and cybersecurity.

It will also encourage AWS's investment plans in the country. In April the company invested $3.75 million in the first artificial intelligence development institute in Southeast Europe: the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) in Sofia.
