49th Sofia international book fair kicks off today

More than 150 publishing companies are taking part in the 49th Sofia international book fair opening today at the National Palace of Culture in Bulgaria’s capital city.

This is the most full-blooded edition of the fair since the pandemic, with the stands of the publishers occupying four floors. Parallel with the book fair, the Sofia literary festival and the 5th Sofia literary children and youth festival is also taking place. 18 authors from abroad (from Hungary, Austria, USA, UK, Argentina, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Canada, Slovenia, Finland, France) have arrived in Bulgaria to meet with readers during the forum, which is a record, Desislava Alexieva, chair of the board of directors of the Bulgarian Book Association said for the BNR.
