President Rumen Radev called for a discussion on the need for legislative changes to regulate financial flows and the possibility, connected with this, of spreading foreign influence. “It is a fact that different countries employ different methods. It is a fact that we have politicians, analysts, media who have been feeding on grants,” President Radev pointed out in an interview with Darik Radio, and added that Russia is not the only country employing such methods of influence.

Regarding an article by the German Die Welt, about how “the EU’s poorest country secretly saved Ukraine”, by sending Ukraine weapons during the previous regular government of Kiril Petkov, the president pointed out that politics is a public activity and that the people who engage in them make public their ideas and how they intend to attain them. “If you are doing something behind the back of the citizens, doesn’t that go by the name of underhand dealings with foreign partners?” the president said. Rumen Radev stated further that he cannot accept the position that the war in Ukraine is a war of values, when the highest value is peace and human life. President Radev pointed out that nothing can justify the Kremlin’s aggression but reiterated his position that Bulgaria must not send weapons, and warned that by supplying more and more weapons, the conflict is escalating and opening the way to self-destruction.
