Bulgaria’s head of state Rumen Radev has sent a message to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to offer his condolences for the victims of the deadly earthquake.
“In the early hours of Monday, the Chief of Bulgaria’s Fire Department contacted with his counterparts in Türkiye. Bulgaria has sent 68 fire fighters and 20 fire engines. 15 people and 2 vehicles have been sent by the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate-Sofia”, caretaker Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev said. The Bulgarian Red Cross is to send 5 rescue dogs and 2 vehicles to Turkey. Bulgaria will send tents and any type of assistance requested, Minister Demerdzhiev noted.
The Military Medical Academy is also sending a team to Turkey, said caretaker Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov. In his words, the Bulgarian planes carrying aid will land at Adana Airport. The Bulgarian Ambassador to Türkiye is traveling to the area affected by the earthquake to meet the Bulgarian rescue teams.
Bulgaria is ready provide additional humanitarian aid for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, but expects to receive a list of necessities in order to provide full support to the victims, Prime Minister Gulab Donev said at a briefing.
