For the first time, a Bulgarian doctor has been elected as the head of the World Dental Organization. This is the chairman of the Bulgarian Dental Union, Dr. Nikolay Sharkov.

The selection took place at the organization's convention, which is taking place from September 24 to 27 in Sydney, Australia

The news was announced by the general secretary of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Dental Union, Dr. Borislav Milanov.  "This is a huge honour for all of us, secondly for Dr. Nikolay Sharkov, because without tireless work, things cannot happen, but he is not alone, this is an honour for the entire team, for the entire Management Board of the Bulgarian Dental Union," said Milanov.

The election of Dr. Sharkov as the leader of the organization which unites 147 countries is a recognition that Bulgarian dental care is at a world level, added Milanov.
