Women live in good health 3.5 years longer than men

Bulgarian men enjoy 61.6 years of healthy life, while women - 65.1, as this is close to the average European values, according to a study by the citizen's initiative "Health Barometer". Bulgarians go to the doctor between five and six times a year, while they visit the dentist less than once a year, usually when they suffer from toothache, the results of the study show.

During the presentation of the data, other facts were also highlighted - Bulgarians are the nation that smokes the most and consumes the biggest amount of alcohol in Europe. The country also ranks among the nations with the lowest physical activity and consumption of fruit is relatively low. In addition, 56% of people in the country are overweight.
