It is possible that President Radev will block the election of a constitutional judge, presidential secretary for security and defence Dimitar Stoyanov has hinted in an interview for public broadcaster BNT. Stoyanov said that there would probably be a discussion in the Presidency about the best way to react, if the procedure for the election of a constitutional judge reached Rumen Radev. He recalled that at the end of 2012, then-President Rossen Plevneliev censured the election of Veneta Markovska and did not allow her to take the oath of office.

Stoyanov said that if the elected Constitutional Court judge did not take the oath of office before the president, it meant that he or she still could not take office.

There are three candidates for the post of Constitutional Court judge from the parliamentary quota. GERB has nominated MP Desislava Atanasova. We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria supports Judge Borislav Belazelkov, and Vazrazhdane - MP Tsveta Rangelova.

Stoyanov also said that the president would respect the constitution in the rotation of prime ministers and would hold talks with all parliamentary forces before giving a mandate to form a cabinet.
