The average amount of newly granted loans secured by residential real estate is steadily rising - from EUR 80 thousand in 2022 to EUR 92 thousand in the third quarter of 2023 under the influence of the price rise of residential properties. The average debt repayment period rises from 24.2 years in 2022 to 25 years in the third quarter of 2023. Longer repayment increases interest rate risk and the probability of losses, according to an analysis prepared by the BNB and cited by the web site "Pariteni".
