European integration is the best response to the risks to stability in the Danube region. Such is the categorical position of Bulgaria, stated the Speaker of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov during the 9th Meeting of Presidents of Parliaments of the EU Strategy for the Danube River Region within the framework of the Austrian Presidency.
Zhelyazkov emphasized that Bulgaria actively supports the accession to the EU of the countries of the Western Balkans according to the principle of own merits

Zhelyazkov also touched on the topic of Ukraine, saying that strong messages from the EU of unity in support for it are needed.

"The EU should continue to provide Ukraine and its people with all necessary political, financial, economic, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support," Zhelyazkov stressed.
