The mountain rescue service - Lakatnik unit are launching a 100-metre zipline at the picturesque Lakatnik cliffs in the Iskar Gorge. The initiative is part of the traditional May festival in the village of Gara Lakatnik. Thrill seekers in good health will be able to take the zipline from the Ideal Edge of the Black Wall to the shelter in Alpine meadow between 10 AM until 5 PM, the members of the mountain rescue Lakatnik unit say. The adventure is free of charge but there will be donation boxes to raise money for the equipment the rescuers need. A holy water blessing ceremony will be held in the evening at the Cross commemorating the mountain climbers from all over the country who have lost their lives – a tradition dating back to 2001. A torchlight procession will take place at 9 PM, followed by performances by local amateur folklore ensembles.
