Three rescued bear cubs were released back into the wild in the Rila Mountains, the Four Paws foundation said. During several joint operations, cubs Nikola, Misho and Aneta were caught and cared for in specialized centers in Bulgaria and abroad. The orphaned bear cubs were returned to the wild with the efforts of the Ministry of Environment and Water, WWF, Four Paws and Arcturos-Greece.
They were released into a carefully selected habitat for brown bears in the Rila National Park. The animals were returned to the wild after the Arcturos Rehabilitation Centre assessed that they had reached an appropriate age and weight to ensure that they would not have natural enemies.
