Folk songs and dances bring together lovers of Bulgarian folklore at the annual Folk Costume Festival in Zheravna. This year the event will be held from August 23 to 25.

Among the participants in the folk festivities will be musicians from the "100 Kaba Gaidi" orchestra, the Zurna pipers from Petrich, the "Gergyovden" Thracian orchestra, the Etropol Brass Band and others.

Anyone wishing to take part in the festival must wear a folk costume (authentic, stage or stylised). Men can also wear soldier or troop clothes, old military uniforms and weapons. Traditional costumes of other nations and countries are also allowed. Filming with camcorders, cameras and mobile phones is absolutely forbidden on the festival grounds during the first two days, the organisers say.
