The opportunity to rest amid the beauties of nature, far from the frequently used tourist paths tempts more and more travel lovers from Bulgaria and abroad. They enjoy visiting the guesthouses, scattered throughout the country, in order to shed the stress and worries of everyday life and bask in the serenity they find in the cozy places. But how to find your way in the ocean of addresses, offered for village and ecological tourism in the country?
\n One can find the answer in the new “Guide to hospitality and adventures in Bulgaria” published by the Bulgarian association for alternative tourism /BAAT/. It Association was established in 1998 and participates in many events and initiatives, related to tourism, regional development and ecology. The activities of BAAT are highly estimated and appreciated by the Bulgarian tourist branch. The guide they recently published offers both Bulgarian and English texts. It is also richly illustrated and lists over 100 guesthouses and small family hotels in all parts of Bulgaria. A big number of the sites, included in the guide, are re-decorated village houses, which offer coziness, authentic Bulgarian cuisine and opportunities to get acquainted with the local folklore and traditions.

Some of the houses are bearers of the certificate “Green lodge”, which guarantees hearty hospitality, care for the environment and the preserved traditions of the Bulgarian home. More about the guide “Guide to hospitality and adventures in Bulgaria” published by the BAAT from its chairman Liubomir Popyordanov.

“The aim of the guide is to suggest a pleasant trip and at the same time teach us to cherish and respect nature and the cultural heritage, because the resources of Bulgaria in this respect are enormous. Bulgaria is a magnificent country, which on its territory has all the beauties of Europe, but they are not infinite. We witnessed the damages that the uncontrolled building along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast led to. The Bulgarian mountains should also be spared from damages. That is why we want to teach the people to be more responsible towards nature and our cultural and historical heritage. That is why we gladly give support to people who want to turn tourism into their own stable small business”.

The idea is to lay stress on the tourism that is sparing towards nature. Bulgaria is also popular with its offers of untraditional forms for recreation. Some are listed in the guide published by BAAT: bird and wild animal watching, mountain cycling, delta planerism and horse back riding usually turn the vacation into an adventure, full of unforgettable emotions. Often wine tasting evenings or evenings, dedicated to the typical Bulgarian cuisine, are organized and they, too, enjoy great popularity.

More information can be acquired at the information centres of the local municipalities.
