Vasil Georgiev widely known as Vasko Krupkata, or Vasko the Patch. has released a new album. Vasko is a musician who has never betrayed his style and whose songs invariably include socially relevant messages. Until 2000 Vasko Krupkata was the leader of the celebrated Poduene Blues Band. In the years that followed he worked for the young band Kaskadiori (Stuntmen). His latest, 13th album was recorded with Krupka Blues Band with whom he has been playing for a year. Listen to Boogie-woogie all night long from his new project Emigrants.

For more details about the album Emigrants released by Vasko Krupkata, Sibila Lilova talked to the musician:

“I no longer insert direct messages in my songs. This album is about spiritual emigration. During the years of democracy in Bulgaria we have witnessed a range of interesting events. And I must say that I am happy that I live here and now. Bulgaria is a place offering a great many themes for blues and rock-n-roll. I have written the music and lyrics for eleven new songs in this album.”

In Timeout for Music, listen to the title track Emigrants.

“A year ago I founded my third band, Krupka Blues Band. The percussionist is a 20-year-old guy. Krassi Tabakov is the guitarist. With him we have dreamt of playing together for 15 years. Smilen Slavshtenski, who is an actor, plays the bass. We waited three years to form the band, and now I am happy to say that it is a fact.”

Asked why so many bands focus on blues, Vasko Krupkata said:

“It is not an easy job to follow the same blues pattern, and at the same time to vary the message. For example, my songs There is no beer and Remote neighborhood dog are absolutely different in terms of mood and message, however they both match the pattern blues. Blues is a genre that is infinite. I discover new names every day”, concludes Vasko.

We wind up this edition of Timeout for Music on Radio Bulgaria with the song "I am flying" from the album Emigrants freshly released by blues musician Vasko Krupkata.
