Bulgarian virtuoso violin player Prof. Mincho Minchev celebrated his 60th anniversary with a series of concerts and a new album, recorded at the First Studio of the Bulgarian National Radio. We offer you some of the new recordings through the next minutes and also information on the recent concert tour. The famous musician also gave an interview for Radio Bulgaria. Listen now to Presto – second part of Sonata for violin and piano in E minor, Opus 36 by Ferruccio Busoni.

You have just heard the second part of Sonata for violin and piano in E minor, Opus 36 by Ferruccio Busoni. It was included in Mincho Minchev’s new album, along with Chaconne by Tomaso Vitali and also Pesen and Rapsodia Vardar by Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov. The recordings were made in the summer. A tour was organized on the occasion of the famous violinist’s jubilee in Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Varna and some other Bulgarian cities. The tour ended with a big concert at the Sofia Synagogue. The program was compiled by works of Mozart and the first performance was in Mr. Minchev’s native town of Gabrovo. The famous violinist played with his Serbian student Iva Miletich and the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra. Let’s listen now to Tempo di minuetto, vivache, performed by Mincho Minchev, Lia Petrova and the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra.

“Concerts have always been a part of my life” – the maestro says. Here is more from Albena Bezovska’s interview:

“What better way to celebrate this anniversary!? I met my audience and also increased my holiday – usually you celebrate your birthday once and I had these terrific ten nights of friendship, warmth and love to art. Every artist works not only for his own development, but also for his audience, his fans. My job requires a lot of efforts, a struggle for perfection through the whole life. And I have dedicated mine to that struggle and to teaching too. There is a certain stage in every concert artist’s life, when he feels the necessity to share what he’s learned through the years. I am really happy with the warm, friendly atmosphere in my class – we have the will to help each other and that is the key to success for me.

Prof. Minchev has been teaching at the Folkwang Universitat der Kunste in Germany since 1990. Some of his most famous Bulgarian students are Mila Georgieva and Svetlin Rusev.
Mincho Minchev was born on September 17 1950 in the town of Gabrovo /North Bulgaria/. He started to play the violin at the age of four. His first own concert took place when he was nine years old, while at the age of 13 he was already a soloist of big orchestras. He won all national competitions for instrumentalists for several years. He has also received prestigious international awards at the Wieniawski and Paganini contests in Poland and Italy. Bulgaria bought him exclusively in 1977 a master’s instrument – Stradivari, 1716 – Baron Wittgenstein. Prof. Minchev has performed on all prestigious world stages. Listen now to Polonaise No 1 in D flat by Henryk Wieniawski.

After the concerts in Bulgaria, Prof. Minchev went to Germany for a few days of teaching. His next destination is Turkey and the following weeks will be occupied by his students’ classes. We will conclude with the third part from Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 4 in D major, accompanied again by the Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Plamen Djurov.
