Bulgarian striker of Manchester United Dimitar Berbatov has been nominated by the football fans for Player of the Year in the Premier League. Berbatov won the monthly awards for August and September and that is why fans selected him. His competitors for the award are Arsenal star Samir Nasri, Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, Chelsea defender David Luiz and Liverpool player Raul Meireles. Dimitar Bebatov has scored important goals for his team this season and currently heads the scorers’ chart with 21 goals. Carlos Teves of the team of Manchester City is behind him with 19 goals.

Bulgarian shooter Antoaneta Boneva has won the bronze at a 25-meter pistol shooting event part of the World Cup, which took place in Korea. Boneva gained 791.2 points. The other Bulgarian competitor at the event, Maria Grozdeva was also successful and placed 7th. Winner was Ying Chen from China with a result of 794.6 points. Antoaneta Boneva has already secured her participation in the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

Bulgarian Petar Petrov finished 27th during the second start of the first round of the World Motocross Championship in the MX2 class, at the Gorna Rossitza track near the Bulgarian town of Sevlievo. The 10th Gran Prix of Bulgaria also took place there. In the MX 2 class German pilot Ken Roksen grabbed the gold and won the Gran Prix award with 50 points. In the MX1 class Clement Desalle from Belgium became the winner and grabbed the Gran Prix with 47 points.

Bulgarian tennis player Isabella Shinikova lost at the final of the tennis tounament in Antalia, Turkey. At the semi finals Shinikova won 6:1, 3:6, 6:0 against Jade Windley from the UK, and added 8 points for the WTA rank list. However, in the final match of the tournament19-year-old Shinikova lost 0:2 against Quirine Lemoine from the Netherlands.

Bulgarian skier Maria Kirkova has ended this season with yet another victory in the FIS competitions in the resort of Bansko. On Sunday she finished first at the slalom race, which was her 5th victory from 6 starts in Bansko. Bernard Vajdic from Slovenia won in the slalom event.

The team of Slavia (Sofia) is to face Pirin( Blagoevgrad), while CSKA Sofia will play against Litex (Lovech), the draw for the semifinal matches of the Bulgarian Cup football tournament has shown. Slavia and Pirin will play on Wednesday while the match between CSKA and Litex is on Thursday. Meanwhile, after the 21 round of the Bulgaria Premier League, the champions Litex continue to top the chart with 8 points more than Levski ( Sofia). CSKA is third with 6 points less than the team of Levski.
