In this music segment we bring you songs from the debut album of pop singer Kalin Veliov. The album is entitled Two faces. Former percussionis, Kalin gained in fame with the duo Doni&Momchil as well as with the Medicus band. He also participated in the first formation of Akaga band with which he performed at Montreux Jazz Festival in 1998 and 1999. He graduated from the Latino-music department at the Rotterdam School of Music, Kalin Veliov became the Latino-face of the Bulgarian pop music. He participated in two other projects – Tumbaito and a duet with Nina Nikolina – which reflected his love of African-Cuban music. The “new face” of Kalin Veliov are his author’s pieces in which, as he says, he pours his heart and soul. Listen next to the song I want which sounds a bit like Brit-rock.

It took Kalin Veliov two years to record his debut album. He recorded some of his songs in his studio in Sofia while others in a trailer by the Black Sea. All percussion parts were naturally recorded by Kalin himself. 15 musicians participated in the recordings. The female back vocals were recorded by young singer Krista. There’s a duet performance with pop singer Toni Dimitrova. There are two remixes done by DJ Borche. Listen next to one of them - Seven times.

Next we bring you another song from Kalin Veliov’s debut album. It is entitled A song for you and it takes us directly to the Black Sea coast where it has been recorded.

Kalin Veliov promoted his debut album on 18th April. Together with him on stage were Milen Kukosharov – piano; Emil Mihailov – bass guitar; Angel Dyulgerov – guitar and Stefan Kozuharov – drums. Special guests were Tsvetan Nedyalkov – guitar and Misho Shishkov – harmonica. The next song from Kalin’s debut album is entitled Escape.
