Django Ze - alternative pop

The first song in this feature is Crazy Frogs of the alternative pop band Django Ze, a track that has been on the airwaves of Bulgarian radio stations for ten years now. A jolly comic piece, it has become the signature song of the band and was included in the group’s first and yet only album.
Jango Ze rose to popularity quite all of a sudden back in 2000 and immediately found a place on the Bulgarian music stage. Two years later, the band dissolved unexpectedly as Miroslav, the founder and author of the music of Jango Ze, left for London. There he used his nickname Morski and took part in projects in Great Britain and Ireland. A talented guitarist and singer, Miroslav performs at festivals of different musical genres. He also records in big studios where rock legends such as Led Zeppelin and Radiohead have worked. Among the musicians with whom he has been performing together are soul jazz singer Hanna, funky pop-rock band Saffron and Afro-Cuban formation Brecha. In England, Miroslav composed the Musicians’ song. After his return to Bulgaria, he recorded the piece with the new line-up of Django Ze.

The return of Django Ze to the Bulgarian music stage happened in 2010. The musicians took part in one of the most popular summer festivals in Bulgaria, Spirit of Burgas. They also gave a number of gigs in nightclubs across the country, and they continue working.

“We record the new songs in Radio Varna, Miroslav Morski told Radio Bulgaria. Currently, the band consists of four members. Ivailo Nikolov, aka Lavraka on the contrabass and guitar. Plamen Peev aka Lambi on the drums, and my own brother, whose nickname is Doctor Ga, on the accordion. I am guitarist and vocalist of the band. I am also writing the music and lyrics, and all of us together do the arrangements”.
With their new songs and with the hits of their first album, the musicians from Dznago Ze perform in many clubs. As they put it, they play in their inimitable style, which they define as “megagyspy-funky reggae”.
And here is an example of it, one of the new tracks of Miroslav Morski, entitled Two Lemons, with the lyrics going like this: “Whatever happens, I will clench my teeth, I will eat two lemons and will keep going”.

Along with his engagements in Bulgaria with Jango Ze, Miroslav Morski has been invited to perform at two festivals this summer. One is at the end of July – the famous Glastonbury festival where he will play as part of a 10-member band with him appearing as the gypsy guitarist from Eastern Europe there. “I learned how to play the guitar as I listened to the clarinet of Ivo Papazov”, he recalls.
Hhere is what he wishes to all Radio Bulgaria listeners:
“I would like to wish all listeners of Radio Bulgaria to enjoy good health and to find what they are looking for, and never to give up. I am still looking because if you have found the thing, it means you have stopped searching and have given up. There is always more to be found and to be learned. Life is endless”, Miroslav Morski, guitarist and vocalist of the Jango Ze Band.

And the last track feature is entitled Two Sensible Creatures, one of the new songs of the Jango Ze band.
