It’s Christmas! Dreams come true!

Silent night, holy night! The snowflakes are dancing with the wind, and the fire is vibrant with flames. Little Maya has glued her nose against the window and is waiting for Santa Claus who knows the names of all kids worldwide. For sure she will see him, because Christmas is the most magic time of the year. On Christmas dreams come true! Man has stepped on the Moon; he has sent his messages to outer space and his devices have reached out even to the Red Planet. However, he still waits with excitement for the silent and holy night, every year! Why don’t we tire of believing in the magic of Christmas? It maybe that the more we swim deeply into the virtual world, the more we need a tale, a dream and a wonder-worker. And the most magic of tales is Christmas!

What are the dreams of Bulgarians? Let us ask the white-haired Santa with a red cloak and a red cap. “Do you believe in Santa?”, we ask him. “Oh, come on, I am the real Santa, why should I believe”, the guy smiles. Do dreams come true on Christmas?

“Of course, they do. Look at this magic box with letters to Santa. Whoever is willing, mails the wish, the dwarves come at night, collect the letters and make sure that dreams come true. A little boy sent to me the following wish: ‘Dear Santa, I want you to give me a real streetcar.” Well, I was surprised and asked him where he would park the vehicle. The child replied, ‘In the same place where you park your sledge.’ We ask Santa what he would wish to Bulgarians. He looks a trifle thoughtful. ‘Yesterday I wished all Bulgarians some more cash. But now it turns out this is not the point. Loving each other is more important. Only then things will go right. Let people have better hearts’, the wise old man said.

In visibly good mood and shining eyes, a young and smartly dressed lady is carrying bags with gifts. The same question goes to Lilly:

“Yes, I think that dreams come true. If we have a strong wish, it is bound to come true. On Christmas I wish I have sound health, a lovely pair of boots, and smashing new coat and maybe a piece of funny electronics.” Is Santa the one to bring all this stuff, we ask the young lady. “Well, I suppose, yes, I guess. Santa is cute, he’s got that strange smile and is a bit overweight, you know. Doesn’t he have flu from time to time, and how come he is the same age every year?”

Two elderly women are sitting in the park enjoying the cold December sun. What are your dreams on Christmas?

“We hope to be healthy and well, to have harmony at home, to see people trusting and respecting each other”, 68-year-old Maria Vangelova says. “I hope my daughter finds a fulltime job: she is young and has to start a career. My son was unemployed, so he left for Italy. I wish young people success in pursuing their young lives.”

They no longer believe in Santa, but still believe that dreams come true – this is what a group of teenage girls told us. One of them longs to have an iPhone 4 and the other, a tablet… quite material dreams! “We also dream of enrolling in good schools, because we are now in the 7th grade”, a third girl speaks up. “I wish I have a lot of luck and love in my life!”

Who is Santa, we ask children and the reply comes across dense with pragmatism – “Mom and dad!

During this time of year Santa Claus is everywhere. What is the technology he uses to do that? Does he come straight from Lapland? Vasil Simov smiles at our Christmas thoughts, and here are his wishes:

“I’d opt for love and understanding in the family and among friends. Santa Claus is here for more joy amid a string of grey workdays. And he is here to encourage us for stronger positive thinking. Thinking positively invariably helps – in every challenge you take and no matter where you are!”

Merry Christmas! Never stop dreaming, because dreams come true, especially in the silent night, holy night – when all is calm and all is bright!
