Bulgarians opt for family holidays in small hotels

Ever more Bulgarians prefer the cosiness of small family hotels amidst nature

Bulgarians prefer a calm, comfortable and… cheap holiday. Despite the crisis people in this country want to have a rest, to travel, to have fun. The great interest shown towards online tourist and holiday offers proves that. Bulgarians most often opt for a holiday in Bulgaria, at a small family hotel, among nature, if possible. Those are the results from a recent research of one of the major websites for free offers.

It looks like that “the more expensive, the better” slogan doesn’t impress too much people in this country. They prefer the comfort of small guesthouses or family hotels. Shiny VIP places with all their luxury are left behind in favor of homemade meals, prepared with bio products and the opportunity to spend some time with your family in peace and quiet. Of course, the budget aspect also exists – holidays in small hotels are much cheaper and the good price/service ratio is what determines the choice made after all. The average Bulgarian is ready to spend EUR 10-20 per night. Most of the people insist on beautiful nature, places for sightseeing and above all – peace and quiet. Noise and loud music most often make these people angry and they would avoid such places. On the other hand good hygiene and nice attitude are the main criteria for the choice of the average customer.

“Results have proved that Bulgarians definitely prefer exactly this type of small family hotels,” Spas Slivkov, manager of the website for free offers claims. “However, it is not quite clear whether this choice is due to a preference to comfort and peace, or people simply cannot afford more expensive places. The interesting part is that over 70 percent of our users are Bulgarians, who can afford fun and entertainment. 58 percent of the polled have families and declare that they would opt for a vacation with their children.”

The Belogradchik rocks - a remarcable natural site attracting a growing number of tourists

According to the research the average Bulgarian is not fond of extreme experiences, such as climbing, horse riding and other forms of active rest. By the way, other polls have shown that people in this country prefer to spend a lazy afternoon at the pool or the beach with their families than to do some sport activities or walk in the mountain. That is why the services at the hotel chosen are so important, along with what is offered for the kids.

“When we asked these people: “What would improve your experience?” and “How do you choose your holiday destination?” each third answer given was related exactly to the kids. They want better conditions for family holidays, with fun, entertainment, educational games at the hotels etc. Besides that people do want to receive all-inclusive, when they have paid for it, along with the lounge, the umbrella on the beach and everything. So, people don’t want to be misled by online offers that will cost them additional expenses. That is why we try to motivate each of our customers to publish a “clear” ad on the website, i.e. to be honest, when describing the service offered.”
