Seven Bulgarian athletes join Olympics events on the first day of the Games

Seven Bulgarian athletes will join the events on the first day of the Summer Olympics in London. Bulgarian competitor Petya Lukanova could not pass the qualifications in the women’s 10 meter air rifle shooting, and ended up 40th. Bulgarian cyclists Danail Petrov and Spas Gyurov take part in the men’s road cycling race. Boxing champion Detelin Dalakliev will face Ayabonga Sondjika of South Africa in the 56 kg category. Bulgaria’s top tennis players Grigor Dimitrov and Tsvetana Pironkova are competing in the tennis tournament. Legendary gymnast Iordan Iovtchev who was Bulgaria's flag-bearer at the Opening Ceremony last night will compete tonight in the qualifications in gymnastics.
