Bulgarian veteran Petar Stoychev has triumphed at 25 km marathon at the European Open Water Swimming Championships in the Italian town of Piombino. The most successful Bulgarian swimmer of all time won the gold medal with this time of 5:04:02.3. With 3.1 seconds slower was Russian-born Portuguese swimmer Arseny Lavrentiev, and four seconds behind was Axel Raymond from France. Peter Stoychev, who will turn 36 in October, was the oldest of the 22 players who participated in the race. The Bulgarian marathon swimmer is planning to put an end his career and this might be the last victory of this renowned Bulgaria swimmer at a big international championship. Stoychev won the same distance of 25 km also at last year's World Championship in Shanghai.
