18 081 persons received Bulgarian citizenship last year

As many as 18 081 persons have acquired Bulgarian citizenship for the period January 23 2012-January 22, 2013. For this period Bulgarian Vice President Margarita Popova has issued 162 decrees for changes in the Bulgarian citizenship of 18 833 persons. These figures were reported at a press conference by the Commission on Bulgarian Citizenship and Bulgarians Abroad. The highest number of foreigners having received Bulgarian citizenship come from Macedonia (8 185), Moldova (5 705), Ukraine (975), Russia (881), Serbia (604), Israel (588) and Albania (491).
