Bulgaria has a number of music talents. In today’s Tom we are to present you two young pop singers – Mihaela Fileva and Santra.

Usually one falls in love with art as a child, Mihaela Fileva saysл “I was 6 years old when I started playing the piano. I also started to learn singing and I started taking part in music contests as a child. It is good to take part in contests as that is a way to get used to the stage and overcome stage fright. Later I was admitted to the Software engineering major at the Sofia University but I was not satisfied. That is how I took the exams at the Music Academy. I was successful and decided to dedicate my life to music. I am currently a student in the class of Professor Stefka Onikyan. I love to sing soul, RnB, and funk music. I am also inspired by jazz. I am happy that my work is my pleasure.”

In 2011 Mihaela Fileva took part in the X-Factor music contest, which gained her a number of fans. The participation in the TV show gave her career a good start.

“My participation in the TV show was an important step to me. This forum provides young singers with experience and popularity. I became used to the idea that a whole team of professionals stand behind an artist. You find out that you must free your mind for the music and let others do their job. For a singer it is also important to have knowledge about dancing. I have been in love with dances since I was child. Dance training taught me discipline.”

Recently Mihaela Fileva won the debut award of BG Radio. The new song of the singer features renowned pop singer Vladimir Ampov, as well as Venzy. Mihaela Fileva vowed to present her own single in the coming autumn.

Young singer Alexandra Sulkova is known in Bulgaria as Santra. In 2013 the singer celebrates the 10 anniversary since she presented her first songs to the audience. The career of the singer started when she was 16. Her father is a musician and when Santra was 3-years-old she already knew she was to be singer. 10 years ago her song “Without You” hit the charts.

Santra’s style can be defined as RnB. She has a number of hit duets. Let’s listen to a song featuring renowned Bulgarian hip hop MC Spens. For some 5 years Santra has also been working with Bulgarian musician Kristo, with whom they are classmates and good friends. Working in a duo is easier, Santra says. For years a huge team was taking care of Santra’s projects. These days I take the decisions myself and I like it better this way, Santra says. The singer is independent and has already learned the formula for success, which allowed her to be a producer, too.
