Gallup international comments refugee issue in Bulgaria

The humanitarian aspect of the refugee issue in Bulgaria clashes with social problems in this country and fears, show data from a nationwide survey Gallup International has conducted. According to 55 percent of the polled it is not right for Bulgaria to be spending on refugees; according to 60 percent a large number of persons entering the country as refugees are actually illegal immigrants, who are not coming from Syria. According to 45 percent of the polled refugees are a threat to national security. At the same time 59 percent answer that the refugees are people in distress and it is only humane to help them; 34 percent view refugees as an opportunity to increase the population with young families with children. The society, on the other hand, does not agree with the sale of land to foreign nationals – 70 percent of the polled.
