International Women's Day is a spring holiday for hundreds of Bulgarian women

It has become recently a tradition in Bulgaria that 8 March, the International Women's Day, is celebrated as a spring festival with lots of flowers and good wishes in deference to the fair sex. As in many countries around the world, the holiday is perceived also as Mother's Day. The Bulgarian capital Sofia for the second consecutive year has joined the international initiative "Walk a mile in her shoes", which draws attention to contemporary women's issues worldwide.
