After three successful albums and 8 years of hard work, the D2 band presented their new album.  The CD is entitled Phoenix. Minutes after the end of the concert that presented the album to the audience in Sofia, bassist of the band Alexander Obretenov gave an interview for Radio Bulgaria.

"Everyone knows the myth of the Phoenix - the mythical fire bird,” he says. “We went through a lot of things - good and bad and this album is like a resurrection for D2. Founder of the band and guitarist Dimitar Kurnev says that if he had to give a name to the band now, it would be Phoenix. I cannot tell whether this album is a continuation of our previous projects. The musical environment now is completely different compared to eight years ago when we released our album ‘Six.’ Music changes as well as people’s taste. I hope the audience will like the album.”

The title song is the last one on the CD but it solves the whole equation, the musicians say. They decided to make a gift to their fans and the song Phoenix can be downloaded for free at the website of the band.

The musicians from "D2" started working on pieces for this album in 2010. In the spring they went to the former residence of communist leader Todor Zhivkov in the Osogovo Mountain with the whole of their equipment and spent there a few months, recording a number of songs. Alexander Petrov helped them with the lyrics. After a final selection 10 of the songs were included in the album. This first edition is limited and D2 plan to release another edition for Christmas, including all songs they have completed.

The new album of "D2" includes four bonus tracks featuring guest artists like pop singer Maria Ilieva, American guitar legend Lanny Cordola and rock icon Slash of Guns N 'Roses. "We were pleased to work together, says Alexander Obretenov. Most of the songs included in the new album are in Bulgarian. Deian Kamenov - Dido, the singer of D2 admits: "Over the years I realized that it is important to sing in Bulgarian, so that what you say can reach people’s hearts. So, it is a little strange that we have three songs that are in English but they stayed because they sound very well this way."

All four musicians say their new album is the best they have done so far. "My favorite song changes every day," says Alexander Obretenov. Summer is coming, which means a lot of tours for D2.
