Over the next minutes you will hear clarinet folk tunes. Clarinet player Dimitar Paskov is distinguished with his talent and pure style, close to the authentic folk music. He was born in 1949 in the village of Varbitsa, Shumen region, Northeast Bulgaria, in the family of musicians. Dimitar inherited the gift of his father and started with the clarinet at the age of 13. His Varbishka Rachenitsa is devoted to his native place – folk fans here know the tune very well.
The life of Dimitar Paskov is dedicated to folk music. He used to play with the Construction Forces Ensemble end-1960s. That was where he met at a concert in 1970 famous accordion virtuoso Traicho Sinapov and they both became partners. Their partnership lasted for decades – on national air, in plates, at concerts here and across Europe…
Dimitar Paskov is known as a follower of clarinetist Petko Radev – an educated musician that has turned into his example. Despite the fact that he implemented his own interpretation of folk music over the second half of the 20th century, Paskov managed to create his own style. “His tunes are very clear, a good sound and his technique is no worse than Ivo Papazob – Ibryama’s, but he doesn’t improvise that much,” says Petko Radev.
