Nina Nikolina, in the company of percussionist Kalin Velyov and folk singer Ekaterina Angelova presented a new ethno project called Pendara. From the album we present the first radio single Priest’s wife. Authentic folklore, exotic rhythms and an electronic sound – this music mix is the result of their work together with the project’s producer DJ Bor4e Boyadjiev. He made the original arrangement, combined with Afro Cuban, Brazilian, Latino and Oriental rhythms, played by Kalin Velyov. Nina Nikolina is known for her love of traditional Bulgarian music. Her career is based on folklore and she frequently combines it with pop music. Priest’s wife is a folk melody from the Trun region, characterized by its specific dialect and humorous lyrics. The singer, together with Ekaterina Angelova selected the repertoire for the projects from different folklore regions of Bulgaria. It was presented for the first time by Nina Nikolina and Kalin Velyov in 2002 in Holland. The studio and live recordings in Bulgaria are with the participation of Nedyalko Nedlaykov, shepherd’s flute. In 2012 they were joined by folk singer Ekaterina Angelova.
Elitsa Naumova is a name known from the first season of the TV show the Voice of Bulgaria. She now has a new single High, a combination of femininity, sensuality and freedom, a time when one’s mind wanders and draws pictures, at times illogical and ecstatic. A time when gender doesn’t matter, when there is only movement, rhythm, touch, whispers… things that make you feel “high”, says Elitsa. The song’s lyrics are her own. High is now making the club rounds, thanks to DJ Diass.
Guitarist Georgi Georgiev laid the foundations of a musical project called Homeovox with a pilot video single – Lost. Stylistically, it is a mixture of indie, alternative, pop and rock. The music and the lyrics are by the musician himself and the idea for the video belongs to Maria Stoyanova. Guest musicians are Stefan Popov (percussion, Gravity Co.) and Ivan Vulev (bass, LaText). This is the first single from Homeovox’s forthcoming debut album. The single gave the start to Homeovox music – a small music company for young independent artists. For Georgi Georgiev this is a side project from Ostava – a formation he has been playing with from the very beginning. Homeovox was born at the time of the independent music association called Yellow music. Eventually it broke up, but through the years the stylistics of “yellow music” has been part of many songs by different pop singers. With Homeovox music Georgi Georgiev, together with his fellow musicians, is now out to revive this trend in Bulgarian music.
Popular pop singer VenZy presented his new song A matter of time. The music is his own; the lyrics are by Ilia Grigorov and Vladimir Ampov-Grafa, who also arranged the song. A matter of time also has a video, directed by Vassil Stefanov. Singer Divna is guest musician.
