On July 6, the Akademik stadium will become the scene of the traditional "Sofia Rocks" festival. Preparations for it began in May with a series of themed nights at clubs in Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo and Plovdiv. Fans listened and danced to the music of their favorite bands that are to come to Sofia at this year's festival. More about Sofia Rocks 2014 from Peter Petrov of Balkan Entertainment - organizer of the event.
"This is the fifth edition of the rock marathon. It will take place in a day, and a total of 6 bands will perform on stage. Headliners are 30 Seconds to Mars and The Offspring. I cannot say that anyone of the participants is an opening band. This year the festival is different - the music is not heavy metal, but rather pop-rock. It will be to the delight of the younger audience, who are impatient to see their favorite bands. The doors of the Akademik stadium open at 2 pm and concerts start an hour later."
One of the most expected participants at the Sofia Rocks is extremely popular band 30 Seconds to Mars, which promises a two-hour show with 50 kg of fireworks.
The Offspring will perform some of their most successful songs, including compositions from their "Smash" album, which has won six platinum awards from the Recording Industry Association of America - RIAA. Swedish indie rockers Mando Diao will also take part in the festival. The band released their album Aelita this April. Among the bands in "Sofia Rocks 2014" is American heavy metal band Skillet. It has released 8 albums so far and has sold more than two million CDs in the United States. French post-rock band Alcest as well as Osssy will also take part in the event on July 6.
