The Late-Antique and Early Byzantine fortress in the Yailata Reserve, restored with the support of the Regional Development Operational Program of the EU, has become a tourist site. The castle built during the reign of Emperor Anastasius spreads over an area of more than one acre. There are preserved traces of the existence of towers and a tower-gate, destroyed in the 6th century. Under the project "Yailata - Ancient Door to Dobrudzha" the unique rock church of Sts. Constantine and Helena has also been renovated. It is unique with its ancient Bulgarian rune symbols and Christian crosses. A documentary about Yailata is also to be soon completed. The film shows the unique cave town in Yailata that included more than 100 dwellings, inhabited in the 5th century BC.
