The government endorsed a decision for suspending the participation of Bulgarian military in the operation of the International forces for security maintenance (ISAF) in Afghanistan as of 31 December, 2014. The decision further reads that as of 1 November 110 Bulgarian military are to take part in the new NATO-led mission in Afghanistan entitled Resolute Support. The mission is focused on the preparation, support and the provision of teams of advisors for Afghani state institutions and national forces for security in the interaction with the Afghani government, the partners and other international organizations engaged in the region.
