In Brussels the Bulgarian city of Burgas was officially proclaimed European City of Sport for 2015. This happened during the annual forum of ACES Europe – the Association of European Capitals and Cities of Sport, which works in close cooperation with the European Commission. Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov received the award from Gian Francesco Lupatelli – President of ACES Europe. The year 2015 will be most densely filled with sports events in the history of Burgas. Most of them will be for amateurs but there will also be several masters’ competitions: the European football tournament for up to 17 year olds, the European Sailing Tournament, the European Triathlon Tournament and the Balkan Para-Olympic Games.
