Bulgaria’s net profit from EU membership amounts to EUR 7.5 billion

Bulgaria’s net benefit from its EU membership amounts to EUR 7.5 billion. This country paid a total of EUR 3.17 billion to the budget of the European Union for the past 8 years since it joined the union and received EUR 10.7 billion. Bulgaria received financing under pre-accession programmes-Phare, ISPA and SAPARD, under European cohesion and structural funds, the Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Fisheries Fund, direct payments to farmers, under the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund, etc.
