The monastery near Krepcha village, Turgovishte region is a monument of culture, but as of this year, by a decision of the Holy Synod, it is now open to the public. The monastery used to be known primarily to experts, but will now quickly gain popularity among tourists and pilgrims. It is also the place where the oldest inscription in the Cyrillic alphabet in our lands has been found. The inscription is hewn high up into the limestone and is a message by a monk to the future generation. The monastery is called All Saints and its patron saint’s day falls on the second Sunday after Pentecost. The cloister itself is hacked into three tiers of rock and has cells, a church and a tomb. A meandering metal staircase was recently constructed to help visitors reach it. Local donors commissioned architects to make the area around the rocks appealing to tourists. The idea is to have green spaces, an information centre as well as a building for the monks who will one day return to breathe life into the ancient monastery. Archaeologists from the region regard Krepcha monastery as part of a tourist itinerary that includes the ancient Misonis fortress and other landmarks in the region of Turgovishte.
