Germany to deploy 550 military men in Incirlik base in South Turkey

Germany is planning to deploy 550 military men in the Turkish-US military base Incirlik in South Turkey, Turkish media informed. According to the plans, some German fighter jets, which will take part at the air strike against the Islamic State, will be kept at the military base. Initially, six Tornado jets will be deployed to the Turkish air base Incirlik. According to data of French media, Turkey has already approved the request of France to use its airspace during the missions against military bases of Islamic State.

Macedonia: Presence of FRONTEX at Macedonia-Greece border is positive signal

Members of the EU external border agency FRONTEX are to be deployed at the Macedonia-Greece border, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe decided at a meeting in Belgrade in the presence of Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki. According to the agreement, the experts from FRONTEX will help the local authorities register the refugees and the migrants at that border as of next week. Minister Poposki said that the presence of FRONTEX at the Macedonia-Greece border was a good signal which would alleviate the tension and improve cooperation with the Greek authorities.

Albania’s opposition demands caretaker cabinet and early elections

The opposition in Albania insists that the only way out of the complicated political situation regards the resignation of the current government headed by the Socialist Party. Several days before the planned large-scale protests on December 8, the leader of the main opposition party- the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha compared Premier Edi Rama with former authoritarian leader Enver Hoxha. “The corrupt cabinet headed by Rama and the forty thieves must go”, said Basha. He promised that if his party forms a cabinet, the salaries and the pensions would rise, the healthcare system will be improved and unemployment would fall.

Romania to provide loan to Moldova, if Pro-European cabinet takes over in Chisinau

Romania’s Premier Dacian Ciolos promised that his country would provide a loan to Moldova to the tune of EUR 150 million, if Chisinau appoints a Pro-European cabinet. Premier Ciolos promised that in a phone conversation with Moldova’s caretaker Prime Minister George Brega. Dacian Ciolos voiced hopes that the political crisis in Moldova would be resolved soon and that the country would appoint an efficient cabinet, which would ensure a European perspective to Moldova. Premier Ciolos made this announcement after President Klaus Iohannis refused to sign the ratification of the loan agreement on November 8 due to the lack of a guarantee that the new Moldovan cabinet would keep the Pro-European policy line.

Romanian firemen who inspected ill-fated night club in Bucharest to face trial

Prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate sent to court two Romanian firemen from the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Bucharest who inspected the night club Colectiv, where 60 people died and other 200 were injured in a fire on October 30. The firemen are sent to court, because they kept the night club open, although they ascertained deviations from the approved fire-safety norms.
