Five-time World champion and two-time Olympic vice-champion female wrestler Stanka Zlateva announced she is putting an end to her competitive career because of an injury. “The injury, which has been tormenting me for years, does not allow me to go on this time. The treatment was long and did not leave me time to prepare for the Olympic qualification in April. If I cannot attend the Olympics in Rio, it is only logical to withdraw now”, Zlateva explained. At the suggestion of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation Stanka Zlateva will take the coach position in the Bulgarian National Team – female junior wrestlers.
