Der Spiegel: Bulgarian politician Peevski is iceberg of corruption

Under the title "Bulgarian politician Peevski: the iceberg of corruption," the online edition of the German weekly magazine "Der Spiegel" comes out with an extensive report on the MP from MRF Peevski.

The occasion for it are intense purchases of enterprises made by Peevski and his mother in recent months. The author of the article Frank Stier calls Ahmed Dogan the “political father” of Delyan Peevski. The article also describes the link of the businessman with the banker Tsvetan Vasilev, whose Corporate Commercial Bank has declared bankruptcy after a rift between them. It is recalled that the civil activists have demanded that the Attorney General order an inspection of the property status of Delian Peevski but Sotir Tsatsarov saw no reason for it.

The publication lists key positions occupied by Peevski even when he had no higher education degree and training, and summarizes: “As no other, Peevski personifies the oligarchic system of clientelism”.

According to Der Spiegel, Delyan Peevski’s career is indicative of the development and mechanisms of Bulgarian democracy and market economy. In all cases his career explains far more than the non-binding reports of the European Commission on the fight with corruption and crime, writes the German edition.
