Unemployment in Bulgaria is lower than average EU level

Eurostat has reported that in January the average unemployment rate in the 28 Member States of the EU fell from 9.0 percent in December 2015 to 8.9 percent, thus reaching its lowest level since May 2009. In Bulgaria unemployment rate in January fell from a level of 8.8 percent, marked at the end of last year, to 8.6 percent and far below the 9.9- percent level registered a year ago (January 2015). During the first month of the year a total of 288,000 Bulgarians were jobless. Eurostat data show stable decline of unemployment in Bulgaria below the psychological level of 300,000 people for the sixth consecutive month.
