Century-old oak tree in Silistra represents Bulgaria at European Tree of the Year contest

The voting for the European Tree of the Year international contest is now over. More than 120,000 votes have been submitted from across the continent, the Brussels organizers report. Bulgaria is represented by a century-old oak tree from the Danube Park in the town of Silistra. It won the Tree with Roots national contest in 2015 with 900 votes out of 3,600. The Bulgarian tree competes with 13 other countries, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Belgium and Spain among them.
