Photo: archive

Today we mark 31 years since the bloody attack at Bunovo railway station, which took the lives of 7 people and 9 were severely injured. The attack was made with an explosive device, which members of a pro-Turkish terrorist organization installed in the carriage for mothers and children of the train along the line Burgas-Sofia. The clockwork bomb was designed to explode when the train reaches Galabets Tunnel after Bunovo Station on its way to Sofia. There panic and the lack of air would have caused the greatest number of victims. However, the train was several minutes late and the explosion took place at the station. The people involved were arrested and sentenced to death. The memory of the victims of this terrorist attack is honored with a ceremony at the monument put up at the spot.
