EC monitoring of Bulgaria, Romania remains in place

The General Affairs Council of the European Union held in Brussels earlier today, has ruled that the European Commission cooperation and verification mechanism for Bulgaria and Romania should remain in place until it achieves satisfactory results. The Council’s finalizing document reads that the process of cooperation and verification remains a useful tool for assisting the two countries in their efforts to carry out reform. For Bulgaria the main conclusion is that efforts made by public institutions for combating corruption and for reforming justice remain indecisive.
