Low wages were one of the main reasons outlined, followed by gaps in the healthcare system, tough hierarchy climbing and the lack of modern facilities. A total of 153 doctors have left over the first 4 months of 2016. They have moved to England, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Greece and Cyprus. A trend has been spotted over the past few years – doctors with solid experience have also been looking for job abroad. There are 31,383 doctors in Bulgaria right now, as some 355 of those are aged 51 – 60. Barely 8.83% of the doctors are below the age of 30.
