Photo: picture library

The celebration of World Book Day in Burgas included collective reading of favorite books and excerpts from works by Shakespeare and Cervantes in the Seaside Garden of the Black Sea city. The event was launched by Radio Burgas and Helikon Bookstore with support from the Municipality of Burgas. The great characters such as Don Quixote, Romeo, Juliet and Hamlet recalled intransient truths about man and the world found on immortal book pages.

April 23rd has also been UN English Language Day since 2010. It was established by UNESCO which opted for it due to the anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth.
