Exports of Bulgaria’s defense industry increase by 50%

In 2015 the exports of Bulgaria’s defense industry saw a 50% increase year on year, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Nikolay Nenchev announced during the official opening of the 12th International Defense Equipment Exhibition HEMUS 2016 in the city of Plovdiv (Central South Bulgaria). The exports of that sector amounted to over EUR 640 million. Recently, Bulgaria’s defense industry has seen an upsurge. Over 1,000 new job positions were created at VMZ Sopot military plant as a result of the opening of new production facilities.
