Increased police presence downtown Sofia before Sofia Pride

Photo: BGNES

The 9th Sofia Pride LGBTI march will take place downtown Sofia tonight under the slogan Relatives, Friends, Allies. At the same time an aggressive anti-march is expected to take place simultaneously and the organizers of the first event still refuse to proclaim their route, though it will cross the one of their opponents for sure, at least once. The Cherry All Souls’ Day Orthodox fest is taking place today as well, which results in increased traffic. The police force has assured that enhanced security measures have been taken, as over 1,000 officers, mounted squads and water cannons are going to patrol downtown the capital city.
