Sofia Airport concession procedure was suspended

The Sofia Airport concession procedure was suspended, the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications informs. This was due to a complaint filed to the Commission for Protection of Competition. The complaint was sent by a Kuwaiti-Saudi consortium MAK/ADMAK which built the new runway at Sofia Airport. That company initiated a lawsuit against Sofia Airport over unpaid penalties. The decision for concession of Sofia Airport was promulgated on June 2, 2016. The Bulgarian cabinet intended to grant a 35 year concession on Sofia Airport and receive over EUR 600 million from that deal.
