There is a problem with the readmission to Turkey of migrants having illegally entered Bulgaria, but efforts are put to find a solution. This was the answer of Turkey’s ambassador to the European Union Selim Yenel taking a question by Bulgarian MEP Iliana Iotova –Vice-chair of the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs in the EP. She put the question why is Ankara violating the bilateral agreement for the returning of migrants having trespassed Bulgaria’s border from Turkey, as it became clear latter days in the context of the General Agreement for readmission between the EU and Turkey. According to Ambassador Yenel, the agreement is voted and ratified but is not fully functioning. It expected the Turkish Council of Ministers to consider the issue as an emergency, in order to pass onto the efficient implementation of the readmission regulations in view of the citizens of third countries.
