State authorities must not tolerate parties and media using hate speech: public opinion survey

Nearly two-thirds of the Bulgarian citizens believe that the state must cut the public financing of political parties, if their leaders hold speeches of disapproval, hatred or aggression towards representatives of minorities. Over half of the respondents believe that media which use hate speech must not receive national and EU funds. These are some of the main conclusions of a public opinion survey made by the Open Society Institute about the adjustments of the Bulgarian society towards hate speech.
