Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev sent a letter of condolence to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck on occasion of the shooting in Olympia shopping mall in Munich on Friday, the press center of President Plevneliev informs. I learned the news about the Munich shooting, where innocent people were killed, with indignation and sorrow. This barbarian act of violence in the heart of Bavaria is a shocking encroachment upon our common values and aims at inspiring fear in us and changing our lifestyle, President Plevneliev further points out. I am confident that we can overcome the fear and deal with the threats over democracy, peace, law supremacy and human rights only through joint efforts and resolute actions, President Rossen Plevneliev says. President Plevneliev expressed condolence to the families of the victims in the Munich shooting. The Consul General of Bulgaria in Germany Antoaneta Baycheva told the Bulgarian National Radio that so far there was no information about Bulgarian casualties in the Munich shooting, but specified that the German authorities were still identifying the victims of the terrorist attack. The German authorities took care of the Bulgarian citizens who were blocked away from their homes on Friday night due to the security measures. Life in Munich has been going back to normal and the state of emergency was cancelled, Consul Baycheva commented. Bavaria’s Premier Horst Seehofer declared a day of mourning on July 23.
